Dr. Ronan Kavanagh
Ronan is a consultant rheumatologist based in the Galway Clinic. He has an interest in the use of new technologies (including social media, video and blogging) to help keep himself (and his patients) up to date with current developments in rheumatology.
He also acts as a medical advisor to a number of medical technology companies (Clear.MD, Full Health and Pubble) and runs an annual medical innovation meeting (DotMed) which takes place in Smock Alley Theatre Friday 5th December 2014.
He is a former president of the Irish society for Rheumatology, founding member of Performing Arts Medicine Ireland and Chairman of the board of Macnas Theatre Company.
Abstract;
Frustrated with the inefficiencies of the traditional channels of postgraduate education, Dr Ronan Kavanagh has taken to Twitter and other technologies to keep up to date. He thinks he may be onto something.
